Australia

Features

With the Working Holiday Australia program, you have the opportunity to work in Australia for up to 12 months. The program allows you to apply for a Working Holiday visa in Australia. Upon completion, you must return to your home country.

The work permit of the visa allows you to stay with the same employer for a maximum of 6 months. The type of work you can opt for does not necessarily have to be related to your field of study in your home country.

Furthermore, through this visa, you can study within the timeframe granted by the visa, for up to 4 months.

This program allows you to enter and leave Australia as many times as you want within the 12-month visa period.

Requirements

- Be a Canadian citizen and be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of applying for the visa.

- Do not have dependent children in your home country to live the experience.

- Have documentation of financial solvency (at least AUD$ 5,000.- or the equivalent in local currency) along with economic solvency for the exit ticket from Australia.

Registration and Duration of the Application Process

To register, you can do so throughout the year. The time required depends on the following points:

Collection of necessary documentation to apply for the visa.

IELTS or TOEFL assessment, in case you do not meet the English requirement.

Visa confirmation period, once all documentation has been submitted.

Job application (only under the "Placement" program option. Under the "Standard" option, departures can be made every week).

The annual visa quotas are limited, so it is recommended to start the application as soon as you decide.

Program Duration

Obtaining the visa allows you to be legally in Australia and have work permission for up to 12 months, which does not mean you cannot return to your home country earlier if you wish.

Types of Jobs You Can Apply for at XPA:

I. City Job:

Job options in restaurants, hotels, and retail stores. On average, this is the option that takes the longest to find employment (between 2 weeks and 2 months, approximately). These are job options in special events, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, and more. Some options may be flexible, meaning they have short durations (days or weeks) so you can take different jobs, although you can also be hired for a longer period.

On average, this option takes between one week and up to 2 months to find work and has an average payment of AUD$24.90. It is recommended if you have an excellent level of English and only if you want more freedom to travel since there may be periods of time with little work. Additionally, you should consider that the cost of living is higher in the city.

Job opportunities can be in the following areas:

Hospitality and tourism.

Promotional work.

Administrative support.

Au Pair.

Call centers.

Retail.

Hotels.

II. Rural Job:

Job options in rural areas of Australia. Payment typically varies between $18 and $25 AUD per hour.

a) Essential: Job options on ranches and farms. Jobs can involve three basic types of activities: "Packing," "Pruning," and "Picking." Payment can be based on the quantity collected.

b) Premium: Job options on ranches and farms with guaranteed employment. Additionally, this option guarantees you the document to extend your working holiday visa for an additional year.

It can be any type of farm work, work with horses, outdoor work, hospitality or retail, childcare (au pair), kitchen work, and chef work, as well as trades such as welding, mechanics, construction, renovation, plumbing, and including machinery operation and other outdoor machinery.

This gives you many advantages since the cost of living in Australia while finding work is high, and a person participating in the program takes an average of 6 weeks to find a job. Jobs could also be related to areas other than farms and ranches but are carried out in these types of locations.

c) Premium Plus: Initial package in which you participate in activities and tours organized for your arrival, along with job preparation. This option includes:

Guaranteed employment from the ninth day.

Welcome service and work coordination.

5-day training course.

Assistance service for one or more jobs.

Support during the work period.

III. Au Pair:

Job options exclusively for women, responsible for childcare. As an official Au Pair in Australia, you have the right to receive the national minimum wage, which is AUD $23.23 gross per hour.

IV. Internship:

Job options related to your field of study, which can be:

Professional: Various fields of study, between 6 and 26 weeks, unpaid.

Stipend: Fields of Marketing, HR, and Event Management, between 20 and 26 weeks, payment of AUD$600-900 per month.

Hospitality: In Food & Beverage, Kitchen, and Reception areas, between 6 and 12 months, paid.

*Your English level is crucial to finding a job quickly.

Notes:

We recommend excellent English proficiency for "City Jobs" and excellent physical condition for "Rural Jobs." This is essential for finding a job and/or staying in one.

Jobs can have durations ranging from weeks to 6 months, after which you must change employers.

Job offers are related to the participant's English level and profile.

Jobs in 'fruit picking' or 'farm work' and others may require additional travel for the participant, as they could be located in any region of Australia, possibly exceeding 600 km, and the participant will need to cover this with their budget. In urban areas, travel from accommodation to work must also be covered by the participant.

It may be necessary for the participant to cover the cost of a uniform or a special course for employment.
