If your passport, ID card, or driver's license are about to expire, renew them before going to the United Kingdom and apply for the visa that best suits your needs depending on why you are immigrating (studies and/or work). At the consulate, you can only renew the passport (not the ID card), and only if you are registered in it. Also, if you don't live in London or Edinburgh, you will have to travel to renew it or pay the expenses for sending the documents.

You can renew your passport 6 months before the expiration date and your ID card 3 months before. If you don't have a passport, we recommend getting one, as some places may require it. It's not strictly necessary, but it's better to have it.

Save as much as you can in the United Kingdom; it is generally an expensive country. If you go to London, it's even more expensive. Rent is high, as well as transportation. Additionally, you will have to pay a deposit for the flat and buy various things like sheets, towels, duvet, etc. Ideally, go with saved money to survive for at least 2 months.
