Sunset Pool Management is a family-owned aquatic management company founded in 1999. Serving Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia, the company specializes in lifeguarding, pool operations, maintenance and safety training for residential and commercial facilities.

Job Positions

Lifeguard / Pool Maintenance Associate

Positions available: 5
Locations: Washington, D.C., Maryland, Arlington, Virginia, and surrounding areas. The employer assigns participants to worksites according to operational needs.

Pay and schedule

  • $14.50 per hour, depending on the assigned position.
  • Approximately 32–40+ hours per week.
  • Employees are paid every two weeks.
  • Overtime conditions were not specified.

Main Duties

Lifeguarding

  • Monitor swimmers and maintain a safe pool environment.
  • Enforce pool rules and prevent unsafe behavior.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform rescues, first aid or CPR when necessary.
  • Inspect pool areas and safety equipment.
  • Keep the pool deck clean and organized.
  • Assist guests and provide professional customer service.

Pool Maintenance

  • Clean pools, decks and surrounding facilities.
  • Test water and assist with chemical balancing according to established procedures.
  • Inspect pumps, filters and other pool equipment.
  • Prepare facilities for opening and closing.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Help maintain accurate operational records.

Requirements

  • Participants must pass the required swimming and lifeguard certification course.
  • CPR training is also mandatory.
  • Applicants should be confident swimmers, comfortable working outdoors and prepared to respond responsibly during emergencies.
  • Certification fees and training arrangements should be confirmed directly with the employer before arrival.

Housing

  • Employer-arranged housing: $175 per week.

  • Depending on the assignment, participants may use public buses, bicycles or walk to work.
  • Transportation to the Social Security office is not provided.
  • Airport pickup is provided free of charge.

Area Description

Washington, D.C.

Washington offers international students a multicultural urban environment filled with free museums, historic landmarks and social activities. Major attractions include the National Mall, Smithsonian museums, the Lincoln Memorial, the U.S. Capitol and neighborhoods such as Georgetown and Adams Morgan.

Arlington and Northern Virginia

Located directly across the Potomac River from Washington, Arlington provides convenient access to the capital while offering parks, shopping centers and diverse residential communities. Participants can visit Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon Memorial and nearby Old Town Alexandria. Public transportation is available in many areas, although access depends on the assigned worksite.

Maryland

Assignments in Maryland may be located in communities surrounding Washington, D.C. Students can explore destinations such as National Harbor, Bethesda, Silver Spring or Annapolis, depending on their location. Maryland combines suburban communities with waterfront attractions, outdoor recreation and convenient access to the wider metropolitan region.
